Clear information on complex payments
Brevixoo is a startup at NEXUS (Helsinki Incubators, University of Helsinki) that produces source-based information in Finnish, English and German on the technologies, standards and regulation of digital payments.
Why Brevixoo exists
Payments have changed more over the past decade than in all the preceding decades combined. The second Payment Services Directive opened bank interfaces to third parties, instant payments are becoming the baseline in the euro area, and strong customer authentication has changed the way each of us approves a payment online.
At the same time, finding reliable information on these topics in Finnish has been difficult. Legislative texts are heavy, technical specifications are in English and scattered, and commercial content often mixes facts with marketing. A developer building a payment integration, a student researching open banking or an entrepreneur trying to understand the differences between payment methods has to piece the picture together from many sources.
Brevixoo was created to meet this need. Our aim is to bring the key topics of payment technology together in one place, write about them clearly in Finnish, English and German, and always state what the information is based on.
We approach topics as a whole. A single payment travels from the user interface through authentication to settlement systems and finally into the accounts, and each stage has its own standards, risks and regulation. That is why we organise our content into technology areas covering payment processing, authentication and transaction infrastructure, and a knowledge base whose guides go deeper into individual topics.
Our team works in Helsinki, at NEXUS, Fredrikinkatu 48. An environment where research, study and new projects meet also shapes the way we work: we value sources, transparency and critical thinking.
Brevixoo is not a payment institution and does not transmit, process or hold payments. We accept no compensation for mentioning providers and publish no paid content. All content on this site is produced by the Brevixoo editorial team.
The principles behind our content
Four principles guide every guide and technology area we publish.
Sources first
We base our content on legislation, official material and standards. We show our sources clearly, and when information comes from a secondary source, we say so.
Clarity without oversimplification
We write in an accessible way but do not leave out essential details. Technical precision and readability are not opposites.
Independence
We do not recommend providers and accept no payment for mentions. We examine technology, not marketing claims.
Currency
Payment regulation changes constantly. We show publication dates and update our content when legislation or standards change.
